Sicilian Bergamot – Full Description & Information

Origin & tradition. The emblematic essence of colognes, bergamot is historically associated with southern Italy. The so-called "Sicilian" (Sicily) and "Calabrian" (Calabria) varieties are prized for their citrus finesse and floral-tea nuance.

Botanical description. Citrus bergamia (Rutaceae) — a small citrus fruit with pear-shaped fruit. The essential oil comes from the peel : the essence is obtained by cold expression (classic quality), then possibly FCF rectification to limit phototoxic furocoumarins.

Olfactory profile & construction. Fresh and elegant top note, sweet floral-tea heart, discreet slightly balsamic base. Magnificent link between citrus (orange, lemon), flowers (neroli, lavender, geranium) and light woods (cedar, cypress). FCF quality recommended for leave-on formulas exposed to the sun.
