Cherry Birch (bark) – Full description & information

Origin & tradition. Native to North America, sweet birch ( Betula lenta ) provides an essential oil with a wintergreen (gaultheria) imprint historically used in barbershop lotions and fresh balsamic compositions.

Botanical description & raw material. Tree of temperate forests (Betulaceae) with a dark trunk and shiny oval leaves. This reference concerns exclusively the bark , steam distilled. A separate sheet could be dedicated to the leaves & twigs , with a similar but not identical profile.

Olfactory profile & construction. Very fresh top note (camphor-menthol), anise-balsamic heart, sweet, slightly woody base. Energizes the distilled citrus fruits (lemon, grapefruit), highlights the woods (cedar) and reveals the cold spices (cardamom). Dose sparingly .
