Arctium majus – powdered burdock root

Greater burdock produces a fleshy root with purifying properties, harvested when ripe. Finely ground after drying, it produces a mild plant powder that is easy to incorporate into masks, poultices, or herbal drinks.

Main virtues

Use and dosage

  • Purifying mask: mix with floral water or clay, apply for 10-15 minutes on clean skin.
  • Decoction: 1/2 teaspoon in 250 ml of water, boil for 10 min, filter.
  • Poultice: warm paste made from powder and water applied locally.

Precautions, side effects and contraindications

  • Do not inhale the powder.
  • Not recommended for people allergic to Asteraceae.
