Traditional use and dosage

  • Infusion: 1 to 2 teaspoons of chopped leaves per cup of hot water, infuse for 10 minutes, 1 to 2 times a day.
  • Decoction: 30 g/L, boil for 10 minutes then infuse for 10 minutes. 3-week treatment possible.
  • Traditional association: with blackcurrant leaf, red vine or hawthorn.

Precautions, side effects and contraindications

  • Not recommended in case of antihypertensive treatment without medical advice (possible cumulative effect).
  • Do not use if you have a known allergy to the Oleaceae family.
  • Respect the recommended doses for long-term treatment.

History and use

A symbol of peace and longevity, the olive tree is also a medicinal pillar of traditional Mediterranean pharmacopoeia. Pliny the Elder, Dioscorides, and Avicenna mentioned its leaves in remedies for fevers, infections, and digestive disorders. Today, its uses are being revived for their gentle action on the cardiovascular system.
