The cut top of wild pansy is ideal for skin drainage treatments (acne, eczema, oily skin) and in soothing infusions for the throat and respiratory tract. It is also recommended in blends for children prone to cradle cap or mild digestive irritability.

Traditional use and dosage

  • Infusion: 1 to 2 teaspoons for 250 ml of simmering water, infuse for 10 to 15 minutes, 2 to 3 times a day for a 3-week course.
  • Decoction: 20–30 g/L for external use as a compress on irritated skin, or in a soothing warm bath.
  • Association: with burdock, nettle, fumitory, white pansy or red clover.

Precautions, side effects and contraindications

  • Well tolerated. Gentle plant, suitable for children and sensitive skin.
  • Not recommended in case of known allergy to Violaceae.
  • Respect the treatment durations – prolonged use should be monitored in children.

History and use

Wild pansy has been used since the Middle Ages as a skin and blood plant. In rural areas, it was incorporated into spring "cleansing" remedies, cradle cap teas, and eczema poultices. Today, its richness in flavonoids and mucilages makes it valuable in natural cures aimed at skin, lung, and urinary comfort.
