Cut red sapwood linden – Tilia sylvestris

Main use: concentrated decoction based on red wood, traditionally used in folk herbalism.

Form: dried red sapwood, cut into fragments.

Red linden sapwood comes from secondary wood harvested in spring, during the sap flow. This precise period gives the wood its characteristic reddish hue, its richness in soluble plant principles, and a slightly more pronounced aromatic intensity than white sapwood. It is traditionally used to prepare long decoctions.

An active wood for long decoction and traditional support

Rich in water-soluble plant compounds (tannins, mucilages, mineral salts), the cut red sapwood of the linden tree is considered more "active" than the white sapwood. It is commonly used as a seasonal treatment in the form of a prolonged decoction. Its taste remains relatively mild and woody, which allows it to be used alone or in combination with other bark, roots, or plant wood. It is particularly prized for preparations aimed at natural drainage or herbal teas for general comfort.

Description

Harvested during the rise of the sap, this supple and colorful wood was boiled for a long time to extract its natural components, without excessive bitterness. Even today, it remains a valuable raw material in herbal preparations for general comfort and natural drainage.
