This natural rock salt was formed more than 200 million years ago by the desiccation of the Zechstein Sea. This sea was a shallow inland sea that stretched across northwest Europe. Currently, the salt is stored at a depth of 400 to 750 meters and contains many minerals and bound iodine. It is a natural product that is only crushed and sifted.
