Traditional cosmetic properties
Soothing, restorative, toning, ideal for fragile skin, prone to redness or loss of tone.
Main constituents
Asiaticoside, madecassoside, triterpenic acids, flavonoids, saponins.
Use in cosmetics
- Face mask: Mix 1 tablespoon of powder with floral water or aloe vera until you get a smooth paste. Apply a thin layer to your face. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
- Restorative poultice: Mix with a green or white clay base to soothe sensitized areas.
- Toning treatment: Can be incorporated into homemade preparations such as moisturizing creams and serums.

Non. En France, seules 148 plantes médicinales peuvent être vendues librement par des non-pharmaciens (liste officielle fixée par le décret du 1er septembre 2008). Les autres sont réservées aux officines, même si elles sont en vente libre dans d’autres pays européens.

Chaque pays de l’Union européenne applique ses propres listes de plantes autorisées ou interdites. Une plante tolérée en Allemagne ou en Espagne peut être interdite en France en raison d’un principe de précaution renforcé ou d’absence de monographie officielle.

En France, les plantes médicinales sont classées par l’ANSM en deux grandes listes :
- Liste A : plantes médicinales présumées actives, dont l’usage est autorisé uniquement sous encadrement (officines, médicaments, préparations magistrales). Certaines sont partiellement en vente libre si elles figurent parmi les 148 plantes autorisées par le décret du 1er septembre 2008.
- Liste B : plantes présumées toxiques. Elles sont interdites à la vente libre, même en usage externe ou cosmétique, sauf autorisation dérogatoire ou usage strictement encadré.
