Thanks to its richness in iridoids and flavonoids, powdered figwort supports the body's eliminatory functions, particularly in relation to the lymphatic system. It can also be incorporated into herbal dermatological preparations, in dry form or as a paste for external use.

Description

Fine green-brown to pale brown powder, vegetal odor, bitter taste. Obtained by slow cold grinding of the flowering tops dried at low temperature.

• Capsules: 250 to 400 mg – 1 to 2 times/day – as a short course of 5 to 7 days (under professional supervision).
• Loose powder: 0.5 to 1 g/day in a liquid base (herbal tea, broth) – restricted use.
• External use: in paste with clay for local purifying skin applications.
• Common associations: wild pansy, burdock, nettle, fumitory, red clover.

• Contraindicated in cases of heart failure or digitalis treatment.

History and traditional use
