ABYSSINIAN SEED OIL (CRAMBE)

Also known as Abyssinian oil, crambe seed oil, crambe abyssinica seed oil

Abyssinian oil is a light, non-greasy vegetable oil with a unique molecular structure that sets it apart from other natural oils. It is particularly valued for its high content of erucic acid, a C22 unsaturated fatty acid that smooths the hair cuticle and protects the skin from dehydration. Its exceptional resistance to oxidation makes it a stable and long-lasting oil. In addition, it contains antioxidants and vitamins such as vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, C, and E, as well as proteins and minerals, which promote healthy hair and skin.

Similar in nature to argan oil, Abyssinian seed oil is also well-suited for inclusion in hair care formulations as it is non-greasy yet highly moisturizing. When used as a hair oil, it is easily absorbed, providing a boost to shine and condition. The high erucic acid content helps retain moisture and protect hair strands from dehydration. Crambe Abyssinica seed oil is also highly stable against thermal degradation, so it can also act as a protectant against heat tools and hair dryers.

Examples of use

  • Hair care: A few drops applied to damp hair for intense hydration.
  • Face serum: Mixed with a dry oil for a nourishing effect without a greasy film.
  • Massage Oil: Added to essential oils for a relaxing and revitalizing massage.
  • Nail Care: Applied directly to the cuticles to strengthen brittle nails.
  • Cosmetic formulation: Incorporated into creams, lotions and makeup for its stabilizing and nourishing properties.

*Origine BiO is our internal label, guaranteeing that all certified products have already obtained a recognized organic certification. However, we have chosen not to depend on national labels, as we believe they often exercise an unfair monopoly. For us, these certifications do not faithfully reflect the reality of the markets that govern these products. In addition, labeling criteria vary from one country to another, creating imbalances between producers and distorting the notion of equality. With Origine BiO , we aim to offer a fairer and more consistent alternative.
