Whole dried berries, dark red to purplish-black, with a complex flavor (sour, sweet, bitter, spicy, salty), characteristic of traditional Chinese tonic plants. Slightly sticky texture.

  • Decoction: 3 to 6 g of berries in 500 ml of water – boil for 10 to 15 minutes – drink in 2 doses per day (tonic, liver, stress).
  • Alcoholic maceration: 100 g/L in 40° alcohol – 2 to 3 weeks – 20 to 30 drops 1 to 2 times/day (vitality elixir).
  • Common associations: rhodiola, eleutherococcus, ginseng, turmeric, milk thistle.

Precautions, side effects and contraindications

  • Not recommended in cases of uncontrolled hypertension or pregnancy without medical advice.
  • May cause insomnia or overexcitement if taken late in the day (stimulant effect).
  • Do not exceed recommended doses for long periods without supervision.

In traditional Chinese medicine, schizandra is classified as a lung and kidney qi tonic, stabilizing vital energy, nourishing fluids, and calming the spirit (shen).
